Here’s the next part of the Kendratello AU! I knew it was going to be very dialogue heavy, so I figured writing it out would be fast, but I’m so ready to be done with it that I’ve not really beta read it. So I apologize for any errors. But enjoy!
Splinter loves his sons, but these last few days have been eating away at his already shriveled and fraying nerves. Watching his children ambling around their home, for months, each in varying states of anxiety, fear, and distress, hasn’t been easy on his old heart.
They’ve been through so much, experienced more hardships than Splinter has ever wanted for them. But the latest crucible tearing his family apart was caused, not by some ancient demon, or world-ending threat—but a fiendishly smart, young woman.
One who’d kidnapped his son and replaced him with a stranger that Splinter hardly recognized.
The bitter tale is too familiar for the old movie star to painlessly swallow. It seems fate played such cruel tricks sometimes. Always seeming to strike harsher the second go around. With outcomes even more brutal and painful. His son was stolen by a hateful, sadistic woman, and kept locked away, until she was satisfied with the new toy that emerged from the shadows.
So it stands to reason how…relieved Splinter had been that one, early morning. When his three sons had pulled Purple into his bedroom, piling into his bed, nothing but wide eyes and panicked shouting; one over the other. Looking back now, he can recognize how short-sighted his quick relief had been. But in the moment, as a father, Splinter had only seen this new, strange development as a blessing.
Donatello might have been confused, and irritated with his brother’s manhandling, but Splinter could clearly see more life in those eyes than he’d witnessed in months. Splinter had shushed the rest, and spoken to Purple directly, finally getting a better grasp on what his sons were shouting about.
Amnesia.
So, of course, relief. Because how could forgetting all those horrible, tortuous weeks in that woman’s grasp, possibly be a bad thing? By some miracle, Splinter’s boy had been returned to him. Nowhere near that frail ghost of Donatello, which Splinter would sometimes find curled up on the floor of his own lab, screaming Kendra’s name and sobbing to be returned to her care.
He had been spared all of that, like it never happened. Their family had been handed a gift, and Splinter truthfully wasn't interested in the whys of it all…
Until Michelangelo chose to contact Draxum, and words like “brain damage” and “tumor” were thrown into the mix.
An entire day of testing yielded…varying results. They were able to rule out the scariest of options. No dark shadows were seen in the X-rays of his son’s beautifully brilliant brain, and no concerning squiggles were pointed out by the Hidden City doctors who studied the fast moving waves appearing on the EEG. It was all a bunch of nonsense to Splinter, but Donatello nodded like he agreed, when he was handed the papers over to inspect himself.
Everything was normal, physically.
That left the most difficult part of the day. Getting his son to speak to a psychiatrist—seriously, and without snarking back at every possible question he would eventually be asked.
Draxum had thankfully picked a good one. Briefing her beforehand on…everything. She seemed prepared for Purple’s special brand of cynicism. The sheep yokai was apparently at the top of her field.
A tentative diagnosis of “dissociative amnesia” had been given, along with a small number of pamphlets and printouts. The doctor had informed Splinter that certain treatments might improve Donatello’s situation, but no cure had been discovered for something like this.
They would just have to take things one day at a time. And they’d been doing so well. Almost like everything was back to normal.
Splinter had become very good at ignoring that pending feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach. He smiled at his sons every day onward, like nothing was wrong. And all of them, in return, began falling back into a more comfortable ease around each other. The stress had just been starting to loosen in Red’s shoulders and jaw. Orange was giving real, honest smiles again. And Blue was no longer a shadow around corners, hiding from Purple like a bomb he was scared to set off.
But the other shoe that had been the root of Splinter’s dread, finally dropped, and the rug was pulled from under their feet once more, violently, with no warning.
Even after they’d managed to calm Donatello down. There was no negotiating the terms of his reality, and he was stubbornly convinced that the world around him was fabricated. Without caring about the consequences, he refused to be civil towards any of them, treating them all like jesters in a play, where no one had the script.
The family’s usual process for dealing with Purple’s anger–letting him cool off alone in his lab until he collected his thoughts–was unfeasible this time around.
Splinter didn’t think he could ever forget the image of his son, turning the knife he held in his hands inwards, and threatening to end his own life.
No; leaving him alone was not an option.
Which led back to Splinter’s previously mentioned frayed nerves.
Four days into this new, stressful change, and his genius son was still managing to find creative ways to sneak past their watchful eyes. Six attempts, in total. Each time, caught with seconds to spare, and just as traumatic for everyone involved.
Raphael and Michelangelo at the moment, were going through their home, removing every sharp implement they could find. Anything that could possibly be used to “put an end to the loop” that Donatello was convinced he was stuck in.
While the two performed their important task, Blue and Splinter had the harder of the two jobs; watching Purple.
Splinter was currently sitting comfortably in his chair, but it was far from his usual level of relaxation. Despite plenty of bean bags to occupy, the twins were locked in a shoving match. For some reason, they were fighting over the single, smallest one they must’ve owned.
“If you don’t get out of my personal space, I swear to Oppenheimer you will regret it, Leonardo!”
“And I swear to Ryan Renolds, that I’ll shred all of your softest hoodies if you kick me in the nuts one more time!”
“That Barbenheimer joke doesn’t even make sense, you idiot, that was Ryan Gosling!”
“Who mentioned Barbie? I’m talking about Deadpool and Wolverine!”
“What does that movie have to do with anything?!”
“Fuck dude, what did I just say about nut shots!”
“Then get out of my kicking radius, and your non-existent nuts will be safe!”
“BOYS!”
Both his sons quickly pause their arguing, giving their father their undivided attention.
“Leonardo, go help your brothers.” Splinter demands. “I will watch Purple. He has not had a moment of free time from any of you in days, and it is clearly wearing on all of us.” Blue gives his father one of his patented unimpressed stare downs.
“No offense, Pops, but how is you watching him, any different than me?”
“Because I will sit in my chair, and Purple will scroll on his phone, and there will be quiet.” Splinter can’t stand the bickering any longer. He knows both his sons will benefit from this time apart. It’s just convincing Blue of that.
Donatello’s gaze is boring holes into the back of Leonardo’s head while his second oldest son matches Splinter’s scrutiny. The rat can see the need for some fresh air battling against Blue’s desire to stay close. But Leonardo is his sharpest son, and even he can admit that his constant presence has become too grating for his brother.
“You need to watch him like a hawk, Dad,” Leo glares at his twin out of the corner of his gaze, “sometimes you can get a little…distracted.”
The new projector, playing Splinter’s same old programs, flashes against the curtain hung on the wall. The volume is set to low, but Blue still looks pointedly between his father and the screen. Splinter doesn’t blame him for his concern, so he tries to put all the gravity he can into his tone, enough that when he does promise to stay vigilant, it seems to convince Blue to place his trust in him.
Purple stays quiet through the exchange, only breathing a sigh of relief once his brother is long past the threshold of the den. He looks ready to lean back into his hard won pillows, but Splinter realizes that Blue had something of a point. Donatello is positioned quite far from him, and he’s suddenly nervous about catching something in time.
“Purple, how about you come sit with me.” Splinter suggests it kindly but firmly, and with a smile– so his son can’t refuse. He pats the bit of cushion next to his legs, “I will honor my promise to leave you alone, but I would be much more relaxed if you were within my reach.”
His boy merely blinks at him, blank faced, and staring at the very spot that Splinter has just created for him.
It isn’t as though his recliner is small, even if Splinter himself is. Donatello had custom made it for him, after one too many complaints about his old brown one hurting his back. It practically swallows Splinter, but remains just stiff enough to provide plenty of support for his lower back. He could even lay sideways and still have some space to stretch.
Splinter recalls very clear memories of all his sons fighting for a spot by his side when they were younger. But it has been some time since those days…perhaps Donatello thinks he’s far too old for such a thing as sitting by his aging father. Yoshi remembers himself at eighteen, and shudders. He’s forever thankful that no matter how lacking his parenting skills might have been, that his boys are kinder to him than he ever was to his Jiji.
Donatello pulls at some invisible thread of his black leggings. Since this new alteration of his memories, Purple has taken to wearing more layers. It’s nearing fall, but not nearly cold enough for the large sweatshirt, black leggings AND socks that his son is currently donning.
Splinter just barely hears Purple murmur a jumbled, “Huh?”
Splinter catches some sort of emotion actively being suppressed behind the bewildered shock at his offer, but it’s hard to tell what it is. Over the years Splinter is ashamed to say, he has grown very bad at reading his own children. Especially Purple, who, if he was being honest, has always been very hard to decipher.
Splinter starts to think the offer will be rejected, when Purple finally climbs to his feet and ambles slowly over. The unknown emotion skittering at the edge of Donatello’s expression morphs into something closer to suspicion. This one easy to identify, especially when it practically drips from his next words.
“Trying to endear yourself to me won’t sway me into falling for your tricks.”
The barb is said just as unkindly as everything else Purple has thrown at his family these last few days. Splinter lets it slide off him like water. He knows his son would (probably) never speak to him like that if he wasn’t stuck in such a painfully clear mode of survival and uncertainty.
“Yes, yes.” He says, untroubled. “Come sit and I can finally lean my chair back.”
Donatello watches him the entire time as he cautiously settles into his spot. He yelps when Splinter grabs his ankles and pulls his son’s long (thin, still much too thin) legs across his lap. For an instant, Splinter freezes, growing worried he’s overstepped. The act had been done without a thought. It’s the way Purple has always liked to sit, finding it more comfortable than any other way. Donatello preferred to keep his distance. A deviation from his siblings, for sure.
Michelangelo would press as close as possible, two sides smushed together like a hug, only without the constricting limbs (though, if Orange were ever to fall asleep in Splinter’s chair, those too would eventually find their way to catching him in their hold).
Leonardo preferred to sit on the arm of his chair, never staying still for long enough to find a comfortable position. But when he slumbered, after a long night of binge watching Novela’s with Splinter–he would curl up, head in his father’s lap, limbs held tight to his body. Like he was afraid even that was asking for too much.
Raphael, his poor, eldest son, hadn’t sat with him in so long. Splinter could still remember a little turtle tot in red, climbing up and splaying out onto his lap when he needed a good cry–or just a moment of peace from his much too loud siblings. Sadly, it wasn’t long before his Red was too big, and his father too small to provide such a refuge. The last time Raphael needed consoling; after the Krang, Splinter had been forced to climb up onto his own son’s knees in order to reach and wipe away his tears.
In the few rare instances of Purple seeking out physical touch, this was all he would allow. Legs stretched over his father’s lap, but his upper body was always off limits. Pulled just far enough away from the threat of any sort of long term contact.
Splinter used to wonder if Purple was scared to ask for anything more, like Leonardo, or if he thought depriving himself of a comforting hug would make him seem stronger, like Raphael, or even the rare times when Michelangelo wished to appear more mature and refused to be comforted. Eventually, Splinter caught on to the truth. His son was asking for comfort, in his own unique way. He was content with the minimal amount of closeness, as long as he felt like he was able to dictate the terms.
But one thing Purple would always allow his father to do, was loop his fingers around his ankles. Trusting the grip would hold his legs in place and keep him stable. He once said the pressure was small enough that it wasn’t overwhelming, but strong enough that it could ground him when everything became too much.
Even now, the act of reaching out to pull his son’s long legs up had been so instinctive. When Splinter looks over and sees the uncertainty still on Purple’s face, he knows he’s pushed too far too quickly.
It’s a risky move, but he’s already pushed, and it’s something that never fails, not once since he’s discovered it.
Purple has always been the most ticklish of all his brothers. Another thing that never really helped his sensory issues. But Splinter long ago discovered that there was a particular spot, which could always earn him a giggle and a brighter smile.
Splinter grips the meat of Donatello’s right knee and jiggles it back and forth. The silly action seems to do the trick and knocks something loose in his son’s overwrought head. His gamble pays off spectacularly, and Splinter is overjoyed to see a small smile erase most of the uncertainty clouding Donatello’s face. It isn’t a full peal of laughter, but the wariness makes way for something softer, and the huff of air from his nose is just as rewarding as a full body laugh.
His boy rests his shoulder and head onto the cushioned back of the chair and Splinter presses the button that will lift up the leg rest, and recline them both into a more restful position.
After a few moments of quiet, Donatello slowly pulls his phone from the pocket of his hoodie. Even without looking directly at him, Splinter can feel his son watching and waiting for the reprimand he thinks will come. Instead, Splinter raises the volume of his show just loud enough for him to hear, but not enough to completely shatter their peace. He wants to make Purple feel more at ease; like he’s not being constantly surveilled–not providing more overstimulation.
They sit like that for some time. Splinter rubs a thumb back and forth across the meatier part of Donatello's calves. He’s learned that repetitive touch is the best kind of grounding technique for Purple. The patterned motion always worked to calm his nerves.
Even still, after only so long Splinter catches Purple lowering his phone.
He keeps his own gaze forward, locked on his commercials. Splinter can see, without looking, that his son is studying him, trying to take apart something in his mind that he doesn’t understand. Splinter allows him all the time he needs to gather his thoughts.
Finally Purple speaks, “Dad…?” It’s so quiet, if Splinter hadn't been waiting for it, he might’ve missed it.
He pauses the repetitive kneading for just a moment, squeezing his hold, and humming in order to prompt his son to continue his thought.
“Can I tell you something?” The inquiry is whispered to him so delicately. It takes everything in him to keep his face open and soft and his movements steady. It’s clear that Donatello is trying his best to remain aloof, but his gaze is locked on his hands that are settled in his lap, the fingers of one pulling on the digits from his other.
At some point he must’ve put his phone completely away. Splinter feels the pressure of having Donatello's complete focus aimed at him.
The tugging intensifies. Splinter wonders if he should reach out, but he’s not sure how well that would be received. It doesn’t look painful just yet.
“I don't know what Kendra is accomplishing by showing me this.” Donatello growls, suddenly digging his palms into his eyes like he can still feel the weight of the screen blocking his vision. “Trying to make me happy, only to rip it all away from me? Or attempting to make me feel, even more like a useless burden than I was?”
It’s the first crack in his armor that Purple has shown in days. A clear sign that he was not as unaffected by Kendra’s lies as he’d been trying to project. Donatello sighs, but as it dies out Splinter thinks it sounds closer to a sob.
“You can’t tell the others…” Donatello looks at him with wet, desperate eyes, and it’s unclear if his son still doubts who he’s speaking to, but Splinter works to ease his fears all the same.
“I swear, whatever you tell me will remain between us, alone.”
Donatello nods faintly, eyes trailing downwards once more. Splinter may have had trouble before, but now the many emotions jumping across his son’s face—fear, shame, frustration, all are easy to catch.
With a shaking breath he whispers his secret. “I lied.” He’s crying now, real tears that he doesn’t even bother to wipe away. The pulling at his skin grows more violent, and Splinter finally interferes to carefully pry Donatello’s hands apart before damage is done. In place he cradles his son’s hands like delicate porcelain and runs a thumb over Donatello’s palm.
“I told everyone that I could tell. That I wasn’t being fooled, but that’s not exactly true. The last few loops have…it’s been getting harder, and harder to remember things— how they really happened. Too much is…plausible.”
Splinter keeps silent. This confession has clearly been weighing on Donatello. He deserves to get it all out, and hopefully feel lighter for it. Even if Purple suspects the family, something is letting Donatello open up enough for him to share his fears.
“There was one loop…Mikey broke…he broke the remote…When I said I didn’t have time to fix it. He threw the pieces at my head. He would never do that, though…right?”
“No, of course not,” Splinter answers immediately, quick to banish the doubt from his son’s mind. Donatello only blinks at him, like his thoughts are moving too slow, and cannot comprehend such a simple, stark contradiction to what he experienced.
“It felt so real…it all feels so real. But…I could feel how one of the sharp, broken corners had cut through my mask and how the wet fabric stuck to my skin with blood.”
Donatello raises a hand and touches the spot where the phantom wound must’ve sat. The pain now gone, but the memory of it haunts his eyes and rattles the tremors building in his hands.
“I thought…I thought I was handling this—maybe not well…But I’d hoped I would be strong enough to last until you all came for me…And now Raph is saying it’s already over.”
It’s a simplified form of the truth which they had tried to get Purple to believe, but even that much clearly doesn’t sit well with him. “If it is over, why does my body feel like one massive bruise? How did you all find me? How long did I last? Was I in there long enough to…?”
He’s clearly scared to ask Splinter any more questions, so he trails off, curling in on himself and pulling his hands up to his chest, pressing there, as if checking to make sure he feels something still beating.
Splinter decides he’s waited long enough and slowly pulls Donatello out of his hunched ball and guides his head to his own chest, making sure his ear is aligned against his own pulsing heartbeat.
Donatello resists slightly at first, but the moment he’s close enough to catch the sound, his breath catches and he glues himself to the spot.
“I don’t want to be there anymore,” Purple murmurs. It sounds like sleep is catching up with his son, the exhaustion pulling him down and slurring his words.
Splinter cups the back of Donatello’s head and carefully tug his fur lined blanket down from where it’s been sitting on the back of his chair. The blanket slots over the both of them and Donatello curls even closer to his father, tucking himself into his warmth.
“Go to sleep, when you wake up, you will be right here.” He’s sure to say it softly but with as much reassurance as possible, and Donatello seems too tired at this point to hold onto his doubts.
“Okay…,” Donatello mutters. Then, practically hanging on to the waking world for one final query hesitantly asks, “…Dad?…Do you love me?”
Splinter doesn’t even think. “Of course, my son.”
Donatello’s breathing finally evens out, and Splinter feels a few tears finally escape.
He’s not sure what next steps they should take, or what kind of state his son will be in when he wakes, but Splinter can only hope this is progress. He prays it won’t be undone…but regardless, Donatello is home. Any steps back or forward will be taken together, and that is the most important part.

Love at first sight
Aged up! Rottmnt x fem! Reader
(somewhere around their 20s)
Warnings:
None
A/N: this was so hard to do for me for some reason (especially Mikey and Raph), i had to think for a few days for certain scenarios and this might come late bc i rlly want it to be good. Im sorry if it isnt what u expected 🙏

You were an English teacher who recently started working at a new school. Youre quite nervous, but exciting at the thought of what awaits you with this sudden change.
Donnie
- Donnie was one of those strict science teachers that nobody dared to underestimate.
- At first, he didnt seem too interested when he heard of a new teacher who started working there.
- hes never even been a romantic type, he honestly didnt care and let fate decide if he gets a partner or not.
- When he saw you for the first time though, he thought he might be hallucinating.
- "Oh sweet Galileo help me.."
- you probably immediately checked his "cute but mean" type without even saying a single word
- He became more interested in you, talking to you more often, even at times asking u to meet up during the break.
- "Hey, uhm.. Could i maybe interest u in some coffee during the break?"
- he thought all of this "romantic feeling" thing wasnt real, but he seriously cant help but fall for you.
Leo
- Leo is obviously the laid-back cool Spanish teacher.
- Almost every student liked him, he was chill and even jokes around
- (he once drew donnie on the board with a huge forehead and wrote "megamind" next to it)(no, donnie did not take that well)
- He was quite interested when he heard of a new teacher, hell he was probably the first one to interact with you out of his brothers
- The second he saw you, this mf fell straight face down in love with you
- "oh mi gosh thats the new teacher?! Shes gorgeous! Do you see her Donnie?! You see her?! Oh i so need to get her number!!"
- tries to act sly and flirt with you
- and fails miserably
- "Hey there hermosa, how do you feel about a date? Ya know, just you and me? *Wink wink* *leans on wall, trips and falls miserably*"
- (A/N: i cried writing that)
Mikey
- Mikey is the sweet art teacher and students enjoy being around him, but yet again they probably wont dare to underestimate his "Dr. Delicate touch" side
- He was quite excited when he heard about a new teacher.
- When he saw you, he suddenly felt nervous and flustered. And he knew why.
- at this point, everyone but you knew abt how he admires you, a little more than in the friendly way.
- He couldnt get the courage to go and talk to you, which put Dr. Feelings to shame
- When you actually started talking tho, you got quite close.
- Youd be with him almost every break
- You would often stay in his classroom/art studio and watch him paint during the lunch break
- and during those times he even asks u to pick his colours
- "Hey Y/n, which colour do you think would suit the ladies dress more? Red or blue?"
- Sometimes you even jokingly ask to be his model, but in all honesty he doesn't mind at all
- you guys were an inseparable duo, and he caught himself falling more and more for you
Raph
- He's the PE teacher, hes fun but strict when he needs to be.
- He doesnt mind that theres a new teacher, hes quite excited abt it actually - he would gladly want to meet you.
- First thing that catches his eye is that he thinks youre really pretty.
- He's most likely stuttering during ur first convo now😭
- Hes super sweet, bringing you coffee and/or lunch, helping u out with random teacher stuff, checking up of u, ect
- "Hey! How you feeling? I brought you some coffee.. if youd like."
- Hes so shy, but he cant help but feel his heart flutter every time you thank him or show appreciation towards him
A/N: Raph was so hard and i know it's not accurate at all. Ive literally been beating my ass up bc of him cuz i didnt have any ideas😭😭 this took super long and I'm really sorry about that, i hope it turned out the way u wanted🙏 anyways its 1AM so im js posting this cuz i have nothing else to do😔

Invisible String (Sebastian x OC) Part 1: Prologue I
link to next part
tags: not beta read, Non-Traditional Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics, like demon ranking stuff, Demon Deals, demon biology, Mentions of Myth & Folklore, Family Feels, Platonic Relationships, Eventual Smut, Eventual Romance, Song: invisible string (Taylor Swift), Cross-Posted on AO3, eventually part of a collection
characters: Sebastian Michaelis, Original female character
Summary:
-One single thread of gold tied me to you-
Demons, angels, and grim reapers roam the streets of London in the latter half of the 18th century. Adelaide DuPont knows that whatever killed her parents was not human. Someone, or something, killed them and left no trace. Adelaide and her brother, Luca, are left almost desolate. Their only hope is to get the Earl of Phantomhive on their side as an investor in their parents' company. Sebastian Michaelis is a leashed demon. However, that does not stop him from smelling his mate. He will not let the fate of humans in this world take her away from him. He can balance two goals at once. He can care for his master and convince his mate to return to the pits of Hell with him.
Every faith in history holds some shred of truth. No one faith holds all the answers to the way of the world. No one being that exists on the mortal plane can answer all questions. No piece of folklore is entirely true. Many creatures exist, from the yokai of Japan to the Selkie of Europe. Many wives' tales are also true. Our story is based on a few shreds of folklore and faith. Demons, angels, and grim reapers roam the streets of London in the latter half of the 18th century. Within these streets, one earldom houses many strange people and… entities.
Ciel Phantomhive, a dark-haired young man with fair skin, houses a rather odd band of servants. Mey-Rin, an outwardly bumbling and clumsy maid with maroon hair and wide glasses, has extreme farsightedness. She has an impeccable vision for seeing afar and is an invaluable sniper. Baldroy, a former soldier with dirty blond hair and lightly tanned skin, is a very headstrong man. He is stubborn and determined to prove himself, but he could be a better cook since he is a chef. Finnian, a walking ray of sunshine with equally sunny hair and freckles, is abnormally strong. Having previously been an experiment subject, he is not used to his strength and breaks objects easily. Tanaka, a butler from Ciel Phantomhive’s younger childhood of Asian descent, does not provide much in the form of serving. And finally, there is the “leader” of the servants. Ciel Phantomhive’s personal butler, Sebastian, is not human. He blends into the human servants well, given that they are all so peculiar. Their own non-human characteristics may help them ignore the russet red eyes and sharp fangs that protrude from his lips. The dark hair on his head matches the dark color of his nails and contrasts his inhuman pale skin.
As we take a peek into their lives, we may observe the servants preparing for guests. The non-human butler cleans up the messes the bumbling staff make as they lay out provisions for these guests. He glances around at all of the staff, taking note of the auras that glow around them. Mey-Rin and Bard glowed with bright red energy, Finny glowed a brilliant yellow, and Tanaka a soft blue. He watched as his young master came down the stairs, speaking in that too-grown-up tone that masked the young boy inside, as he glowed in muted colors that were filtered by his blocked energy. The servants, including our demonic butler, all bowed to their master.
“Where are our guests, Sebastian?” the young master asked.
“They should be arriving any minute, my young lord,” the butler answered. As if on cue, a knock resounds on the door. Mey-Rin scrambles to open the door for the guests. On the doorstep stood a young woman with light skin like fine porcelain. Her cheeks were hollowed and her emerald green eyes were dull and sunken. She wore a dress of cheap blue material that highlighted her strawberry blonde hair. Next to her stood a boy with matching hair and eyes who wore a suit of the same material. His figure was much healthier than that of the young lady, though.
Sebastian took stock of the pair. The boy’s aura glowed a vibrant indigo, but he oozed introversion and anxiety. The female’s aura was a dull, almost black shade of grey. It was a dulled shade of white, a very rare aura color. He looked her up and down when he noticed a shimmer of gold near her hand as she curtsied to the master of the house. He did not hear her words, however, as his ears rang and hummed with his pulse. His heart raced as he took a deep breath, smelling the most alluring scent of discontent mixed with florals and musk. His eyes traced the thread as it flowed into the manor. His mind raced as he saw the thread reach him and go around his neck, tying and binding him to the thing human female standing before him. His face briefly showed his shock before he masked it in a smile.
His master, the owner of the contract binding him to the mortal plane, spoke to him, “Sebastian, show Ms. DuPont and Mr. DuPont to their seats. We will dine and then discuss business,” he said sternly. His visible eye glowered at him, noticing his flustered state.
Sebastian’s heart raced in his chest, thumping rapidly with excitement. The need to claim his bondmate was strong in his veins.
“Of course, my lord,” the demon said. He glanced up at the siblings, “Please follow me, my lord and lady.”
He led them to the dining room, desperately trying to ignore the scent that was filling his nose. The scent of his mate. The one who held the thread of his fate.

❝ as with any leader, it is my duty to safeguard and protect my people. ❞
— Abraham Lincoln to Robin Calatia
tloz: tears of the kingdom starters [accepting] [x]
"That doesn't mean throwing yourself into the throes of darkness." Robin knew she was being hypocritical here. Nobody had told her that she had to fight, nobody commanded her to slay monsters and never leave her forest unless absolutely necessary. She was in a cage of her own creation, refusing to shed the fibers of fate's cloak.
"I know you feel for them." She idly stirred the fire in its home, the hearth seeming like a portal to another world for just a moment from how the light reflected over dark, dusty and sooty wood. If she watched, would little susuwatari come out to play?
"Your world has always been of politics and man, Mister Lincoln. A world so broad and yet so little. Be grateful that you have not been dragged into my battles."
Even if @historiavn wanted to protect the countrymen from yokai and darkness too, it wasn't his job. It was hers. And like any lone wolf, she protected her little territory with bared teeth.

CHAPTER 参 THREE
Though you did not know it, Izana and his followers had been watching over you ever since their awakening, cloaked in the veil that separated the world of the living and the spiritual. As you murmured daily prayers and polished floorboards until they sparkled under the sunbeams filtering through the trees, Izana revelled in the sensation of life flowing through his veins. Some days, he stood right by your side, eyes twinkling in amusement as you jumped and looked around, searching for a figure that was just out of your mortal vision.
“You’re not gonna show yourself?” Kakucho asked, eyes following Izana who in turn, followed you as he always did.
“Not yet,” the white-haired god said, smile never leaving his face.
Kakucho merely nodded, and vanished.
Unlike Kakucho, who frequently appeared to accompany his master, the rest of Izana’s followers were not so willing to linger. Now that they were finally awake, they were quick to tire of watching the little human’s mundane routine—which consisted of a pitifully boring cycle of eating, cleaning, and sleeping. Alone. So instead, Izana sent them to wrangle with the troublesome demons that managed to enroach onto the shrine’s holy ground.
“We could cleanse them all for good,” Rindou said one day, after having dispersed of yet another. “They’re just gonna keep repopulating themselves unless we purge the entire village.”
“Not yet,” Izana said again.
“I don’t know what you’re planning,” Ran sighed, twirling a braid around his finger, “but it better be good.”
When finally, in the dead of night, a commotion sounded right outside the building’s walls, Izana allowed his hand to part the veil. One-by-one, each of his fellow spirits followed in silent understanding. As expected, there was a horde of malevolent spirits trailing after the gaggle of teenagers—and more slithering close behind. None had noticed them yet, too eager to gorge on the turbulent energy surrounding the village kids—until Shion leapt forward, of course.
“Hey there, demons,” he barked, cracking his knuckles and throwing his arms wide open. “It’s me, y—“
He disappeared with a muffled yell under the ensuing swarm. Rindou rolled his eyes while Ran ignored his plight completely, calling out to Izana, “We’ll handle the perimeter.”
“I’ll leave it to you,” he replied, robes fluttering as he descended further into the shrine. When Kakucho moved to follow, Izana halted him with a raised hand.
“No,” he said. “Ensure nothing makes it inside. That’s all.”
—✧—
Perhaps Izana had underestimated himself, after all those years of lying dormant and powerless. Surely the others felt the same, although none would ever admit to it. Instead he allowed his growing irritation to carry him down the corridor—just in time to hear you scream. At that moment, he saw something. A tiny fragment of a long, long dream, etched with centuries of tears and stained with the blood of a mother who offered him his very last worshipper. Izana threw his head back and laughed, for he may be a god, but fate was surely a stronger force than he.
I know now, he thought, a grin splitting his beautiful face in two as he rushed forward. I know why this was meant to be.
The moment he reached you, the flame being pressed to your face went out. Your tormentors had not a second to react before Izana’s hand was gripping the face of the nearest person and slamming it right through the floorboards, raining splinters upon the horrified group. With his other arm he hoisted you against his torso, dropping the now unconscious body to hold you fully.
“Sleep,” he murmured, pressing two fingers to your forehead. Your sobbing dissolved into one huff of breath before you lost consciousness.
At the same time, Kakucho stepped inside, followed by Ran, Rindou, and finally, Shion—who looked particularly scuffed up and disgruntled. Izana did not need to ask them to know that they had cleared the shrine of demons. Now, their attention was turned to the ruckus caused by frantic shouting and scrambling limbs.
Like fleeing insects, Izana mused with a sick sort of glee, and spoke. “Don’t let them escape.”
—✧—
While Izana focused on healing every crevice of your smouldering face and bleeding head, he basked in the sound of cracking bone and pained shrieks, softly humming his own little tune as he worked. The task would likely take up all of his current energy, so as much as he would have liked to join the fray, he acquiesced to sit away from the violence and simply cradled you on his arms. Every time you stirred, he shushed you with a gentleness unbefitting a man who just minutes prior had nearly crushed a person’s skull.
“Don’t let them escape,” Izana had commanded earlier, “but don’t kill them. Ensure that they will live, then send them back home.”
He lifted his head to watch.
Ran was seated on the back of one boy, who lay flat on his stomach while blubbering incoherently, laughing as Rindou leisurely snapped every joint in his hand, finger by agonising finger. Shion was a simple creature, choosing to pummel their faces while guffawing at each consecutive spurt of blood. Kakucho, however, stood off to the side, brows furrowed and staring down at the kid he had just cleanly knocked out in one hit. The unconscious boy was the one who led the group, Izana realised—and white hot hatred, masked beneath his ever present smile, surged to the surface.
“Kakucho,” he said. The black-haired man froze, then slowly turned to look at Izana.
“I’m giving you a special task,” he said, all the while stroking the contours of your sleeping face. “Wake him up and make sure he stays awake until you have beaten him half-dead.”
Kakucho did not answer, but Izana was not worried. He watched, beaming, as his most loyal of followers placed a hand over the kid’s eyes. The moment they opened, Izana turned away and closed his own, continuing to hum; as expected, the rhythm of Kakucho’s pounding fists was the best for your very own special melody.
—✧—
Your knees buckled, body falling right against Ran whose arms happily encircled your much smaller frame to keep you steady. Shion grumbled something about the beanpole hogging her all to yourself but it all went in one ear and out the other. Between the lingering memory of searing pain to their nonchalant retelling of utter brutality, you did not know which was worse. It was then that you realised, with a mounting horror that sent bile rising up to the back of your throat, that perhaps even worse of all was the tiny voice at the back of your head whispering, Good. They deserved it.
“You realise now, right?” Ran cooed, as if having read your exact thoughts. “There’s no need to act like you’re above enjoying revenge. You might be a shrine maiden, but you’re human too. Aren’t you?”
“I…”
“Think of it as divine retribution, or some shit like that,” Rindou piped up. “Izana’s a god and we fucked ‘em up on his orders, right? They got what was comin’ to them.”
You couldn’t look at any of them.
“I don’t get it,” Shion groaned. “Didn’t they try to kill ya? Why’re ya feelin’ sorry for those bastards? We just gave it right back.”
They’re right. They’re right, and yet…
“What are you guys doing?”
Kakucho’s curt voice jolted you out of your thoughts. For a moment, you were relieved to see him return home—only for the thought of him coldly beating a human being into a coma to flash through your mind.
“Ran,” he continued, not noticing your growing discomfort. “Let her go.”
“Aww, you’re no fun. Just wanted to get to know our little princess a bit more.” Still, the taller man released you, and you hurriedly scrambled to find your footing before Kakucho would realise something was wrong. You grabbed the broom that had been discarded earlier.
“I have to sweep the other side of the building,” you announced, forcing your voice steady. “Bye.”
“[Name]—“
You pushed past Kakucho and rushed off.
When your footsteps receded, he turned his attention to the men now sitting innocently around him on the floor. “What the hell did you tell her?”
“Nothing that wasn’t true,” Ran drawled, lying down on the engawa with his arms behind his head. “I’m taking a nap.”
“No, you aren’t—“ But Ran was already snoring. “…Fine, do what you want. Just don’t blame me once Izana comes back and sees the chores unfinished.”
And with that, he whirled around and went after you.
—✧—
“[Name], open the door.”
No response.
“Please?” he tried again.
He heard you shift around inside of your room. Then, a soft but petulant, “No.”
“Why not?”
A pause, before you said, “If you really wanted to, you’d be able to come in, anyways. Doors can’t stop you.”
“Are you…” Kakucho swore quietly to himself, making a mental note to put the others through the wringer. He swallowed. “Are you afraid of me?”
Your ensuing silence answered his question.
“[Name],” he sighed, “I don’t know what they told you, but I would never hurt you. Ever.” He would sooner off himself if he dared lay a hand upon you—if Izana didn’t kill him first, that is.
More silence followed, broken only by the sound of a barely audible sniffle.
“Alright,” he said. “I’m coming in.”
You were sitting in a fetal position at the farthest corner of the room, back pressed up against the wall and face buried in your arms. Kakucho slipped in through the closed door and made his way carefully toward you. The sight of your shoulders shaking ever so slightly as he approached hurt more than any injury a demon could inflict. After a brief hesitation, he crouched down. To his surprise, you were the one who spoke first.
“All I wanted was to live,” you whispered. “I just wanted to live normally and not be a burden to anyone.”
Kakucho was already a man of few words—but this time, he truly did not know what to say.
“Why did it have to be me?” Your grip around your knees tightened. “Everyone hates me just for existing. Why did my mom have to die and leave me all alone here?”
“You’re not alone,” he interjected. “Not anymore.”
Slowly, like someone trying not to spook a cornered animal, he placed his hands on your arms, gently tugging them apart—and to his relief, you put up no resistance. Your shoulders slackened, though still trembling with muted sobs, and after setting your limp arms aside Kakucho reached forward. Calloused fingers stroked underneath your chin and tilted your head up to look at him. The sight of your utterly broken, tired expression sent a pang right through his chest.
“We’re just like you,” he said, cupping your face in his hands. “All we ever wanted was to live.”
You stared at him from behind wet lashes.
“The world is cruel,” he continued, brushing your cheeks free of tears with both thumbs. When more trickled from the corners of your puffy red eyes, he wiped them too. “You’ve experienced the worst of it. Let us protect you and our new lives—even if we must be equally cruel in return.”
He watched your gaze trace the scar that sliced down his forehead and over one misty white eye.
“Izana treasures family more than anything else,” he whispered. “So… don’t be afraid of us. Please.”
He waited with bated breath as you continued to stare at him. Then, so quietly he didn’t even notice, your arm shifted—and you placed one small hand over one of his. Underneath his palms, he felt the corners of your mouth lift.
“Okay.”
—✧—
When Kakucho slipped out of your room, he nearly walked right past the younger Haitani brother who was leaning against the wall with his arms folded, next to the door. He stopped, then turned to face him. “Were you eavesdropping?”
“Whatever you wanna call it.” Rindou pushed off the wall and strode toward the garden. Without even checking to see whether Kakucho was following him or not, he asked, “She alright?”
“Now you’re concerned?” Kakucho sped up to walk beside him.
“I wouldn’t say that,” Rindou grunted, adjusting the round glasses perched atop the bridge of his nose. “Just figured that Izana wouldn’t be too pleased if our only remaining human follower started losing faith in him.”
“Maybe you should’ve considered that before you told her everything.”
“Hey, hey,” he said, holding his hands up. “We haven’t been around humans in a long fuckin’ time. Got too excited and forgot that they’re sensitive. ‘Specially the girls. Besides…” Serious lavender eyes glanced over at Kakucho. “She ought to know. What Izana is really like, I mean.”
Kakucho stiffened. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Really? You don’t?” A sneer stretched across Rindou’s face. “Don’t play dumb, now. I thought you were better than that.”
“I’m leaving—“
“Izana isn’t the same benevolent god as he was back then and you know it. More than anyone else.”
His fists clenched at his side. Before Rindou could say anything else, Kakucho was gone, disappearing into the warm summer air and leaving behind only the loud droning hum of cicadas in his wake. He sighed. “Alright, you bastard, you can come out now.”
A chuckling Ran emerged from behind a tree. “Seems like you’re getting soft yourself, little bro.”
“Shut the hell up.”
A bush rustled nearby. Both brothers turned their heads to see Shion pop out, leaves clinging to his shaggy blond mane. “Why the hell is everyone eavesdroppin’ around here?”
“Fuck off, Shion.”
“Yeah, fuck off, Shion.”
—✧—
Once again, days passed idly by. Especially now that you were banned from returning to the village for the time being (not that you were very keen to go back anyway) you found yourself spending more time with Izana and his odd group of servants. Before long, though you hated to admit it at first, you gradually began to enjoy their company. The various yokai that lived in your vicinity were friendly enough but nothing could quite replace the value of human companionship. Or, at least, human-shaped; on occasion you caught yourself forgetting that they weren’t of this world. Their manner of bickering and daily shenanigans reminded you much of your own neighbors’ antics, back when you still lived in the village, and it left you feeling an odd sense of both warmth and longing.
Still, there was no doubt that despite watching Ran chase Rindou around the garden while holding a particularly disgusting gremlin of a demon; or Shion knock himself out by accident yet again; or Kakucho’s face flare with the brightest shade of red when he walked in on you changing… they were powerful, dangerous entities all the same.
“Hey, don’t wander off,” Rindou barked at you, snatching a demonic spirit from midair and crushing it in his fist. “If you go too far we can’t protect you properly.”
You glanced over your shoulder from where you had been perched on a boulder right at the boundary separating the shrine grounds from the forest, watching the malevolent dark shadows twist and dart through the trees. After mulling over your thoughts for a few seconds, you spoke. “Can’t I learn how to do it, too?”
“What?”
“To protect myself,” you huffed. “So you guys don’t have to worry so much about me.”
Rindou’s answer was immediate. “No.”
“Why not?”
“Because.”
You scrunched up your nose at him. “It’s not like once I know how to do it, I’m gonna start trying to beat them up for fun. I’m not Shion.”
The two of you ignored the sudden loud sneeze that erupted from inside the house.
“Look,” Rindou said, moving to sit beside you. “There’s a little you can do with the help of talismans and spells and shit, but even with Izana’s blessing it would take fuckin’ years for you to reach a level where you can get rid of even one of ‘em on your own. Self-defence isn’t gonna cut it; just ‘cause you can see ‘em now, doesn’t mean your physical body can touch ‘em.”
“That’s okay,” you said, perking up visibly at the mention of talismans and spells. “I still want to learn. With you guys around, taking care of the shrine has gotten a lot easier—and some days I just get so bored, you know?”
“…You still feel lonely, huh.”
Your shoulders stiffened at his remark, then relaxed as you heaved out a sigh. “Sorry,” you mumbled. “I don’t wanna sound ungrateful or anything… but there’s still a part of me that wishes I could still be normal. Have a family. Chat with neighbours. Attend celebrations. Not hide, afraid of everything that lies right outside—at a distance so close, yet still can’t reach.”
Rindou was quiet as you talked, but in his mind he was frantically trying to recall how either Ran or Kakucho would comfort you; their way with words was far better than his in this sort of situation, much to his annoyance. Coming up blank, all he could think to do was grab your hand and pull you to your feet. “C’mon.”
“Wha— Where are we going?” Your round eyes darted from Rindou’s face to your clasped hands and back again, as if you couldn’t quite believe it.
“Inside, to get a paper and brush. Don’t get mad at me if you get tired, though; I’m not a nice teacher.”
He couldn’t help but sneak a glance at you, out of the corner of his eye. When he glimpsed your face bursting into a brilliant smile, he finally understood what Izana had been trying to save all along. Closing his eyes and allowing himself to feel the way your much smaller hand gently squeezed his, he could only hope that when the time eventually came, you would understand, too.

You however!!! Get to decide which one through our combined love for pressing buttons :D
I'll be doing these fics in order of votes, so the most popular one will be posted first, etc.(you catch my drift?)
However! If you're here for any of my other fandom posts, there is another poll I've set up -> HERE.
You can vote for the next fic as well, also by order of votes for which goes up first/is completed :)
Other fandoms include: Miles Morales, Ninjago, Danny Phantom, Haikyuu.
Here's the Lowdown + Explanation for each one:
Zombie Apocalypse AU! Rise Leo x Reader
Warnings: Includes mentions of death, and graphic descriptions of both gore and violence. Angst, Fluff.
Example drabbles can be found in this order -> HERE! & -> HERE! & -> HERE!
You didn't know how it started. One minute you're out and about with friends, and the next moment the nationwide alarm sounds. Sirens blare, people scream, and you flee.
Now, you're a lone wolf, looking out purely for yourself and taking down any Zombie that tries to harm you. You're alone, just how you like it.
But when a fateful encounter with a turtle wearing a blue bandanna changes your outlook on your new life, you begin to think that being alone might not be as great as you once thought.
Human Disguise! 12 Leo x Reader
Warnings: Fluff, Angst, Slightly Aged Up! Turtles, Friends to Lovers
Theft isn't always right.
But in this instance, Leo's willing to do it as many times as it takes, all to catch the bus with you at the same time everyday.
Luckily, Donnie has just the tool for that, a watch that would allow him to disguise himself as a human.
All he has to do is make sure you don't ever find out.
Your Name AU! X Female! Reader
Warnings: Mentions of Time Travel, Body Swapping, Fluff, HEAVY ANGST.
Inspired by the anime movie with the same title
Mutagen is the base of how all mutants are created, its unknown properties managing to bring to life both miracles and nightmares.
It's almost like magic.
But it doesn't explain how Leo wakes up in the body of someone else.
You're just a girl living in the countryside, the daughter of an influential polititian, and a shrine maiden in training.
You're tired of life and everything it throws at you, not to mention the best friend you're slowly falling in love with, whom has eyes for someone else. So, in a moment of anger and frustration, you curse at the goddess you're supposed to praise and worship instead.
And in return, you wake up in a mutant turtle's body.
Rise Leo! X Genie Reader
Warnings: Aged Up! Turtles, History Things, Fluff, Friends to Lovers.
Being one of the most mythical (and extremely rare) species on the earth has both its perks and disadvantages.
Pro? You're worshipped heavily, many of your previous summoners too frightened to cross you.
Con? Some of them are horrible and abusive, so you decided to use loopholes to ensure their uncontrollable greed would never make the light of day.
As such, you disappear back into your lamp to nap for a couple thousand years, waking up with a yawn to a baffled group of turtle yokai.
And it's just your luck that the cutest one happens to be your summoner.
Star Crossed Lovers! 12 Leo x Reader
Warnings: Addresses Discrimination, Fluff, Angst, Fluff, Mentions of Abuse, Mentions of Violence and Gore.
Inspo can be found -> HERE!
"We shouldn't be doing this." You murmur, slipping your hand out of his. However, before your hand leaves his grasp completely, he grabs it gently.
"We don't have to be like them. To confine ourselves to the rules they've set."
"But, your position... You can't be seen with a human, or the rest of the Yokai would riot." Your eyes water, and you swallow a sniffle that threatens to give away the tears that start to trail down your cheeks.
"I don't care about the rest of them. You're the only one whose opinion matters to me."

Eternal Flame
Sesshomaru x DemiGod! Reader
warnings: mild description of violence, death
Parts: ❧ I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX❧
The old folklore of the east whispers of a terrible power. Wielded by a lone demigod, fated to walk through the eras the dark fires of hell dancing on her fingers. With no regard for human life, she was fated to be feared and worshipped. But fate is a bitch. Now cursed to be stripped of her powers and doomed to mortality she finds herself in the care of a sworn rival. The great Daiyoki of the west.
ḯ̵̡̤̣̞̜͑ Mortal ḯ̵̡̤̣̞̜͑
“You IGNORANT HUMAN HOW DARE YOU TALK BACK TO THE GREAT DAIYOKAI HIMSELF-“ the toad thing screamed so violently, that the little human girl jumped to her feet and scurried outside the hut. I shut my eyes close. The first thing I do when I get my powers back is to cook that fucking frog. I promised myself.
The wounds still hurt. Seven hells, do these human wounds ever heal? I groaned internally as I made the mistake of turning in a more comfortable position, more pain shot up my shoulder blade, flooding through my entire torso. I gritted my teeth as I tried to breathe through it. As the toad thing raged on in the background I shut my eyes tight hoping to wake up from whatever nightmare this was. My body had never felt so vulnerable… so pathetic before. I would willingly submit if the earth mother was to split open and swallow her stupid mortal body right now.
“You should be grateful that Lord Sesshomaru even considered helping a lowlife like yours!”
Yes. Him, the worst part of this whole horror extravaganza. Even with a human body, I should have been able to stand my ground and give that horse yokai a run for its money. But it had torn me apart in an unmatched battle. Just when I had thought it would be my shameful end, I was saved. By the likes of him. To watch his cold amber eyes scrutinize her vulnerable body and then take pity on her, was much worse than being eaten by a yokai. Anger burned in my gut. I had heard of him before, the mighty destroyer of towns, it was high praise for a demon to be sung about among demigods. I would toss my hair and scoff every time someone would talk of his valor. Unknowingly this mysterious daiyokai had become my sworn rival.
As I honed my body through training every day, I would boast how the great Sesshomaru would be wise to never step upon the western lands. I had dreamed of facing him down in brutal combat, what it would be like to claim bakusaiga for myself when I emerged victorious.
Well. Fate was a little piece of shit. Not in my wildest dreams had I imagined it to turn out like this. I hadn’t expected the fear as the demon lord approached me coldly, curling his fingers under my chin and making me wait in anticipation as he decided if I was worth saving. And although I hadn’t expected the awe from his beauty either, it was all swallowed up by bitter shame. The shame, the anger it was all fucking because of that crone. Cursing her on the eve of her age coming feast. A curse that had fated me to something worse than eternal labor. Mortality.
My nails dug into the soft earth as I suppressed a growl.
“It will all be alright now!”
I opened my eyes to see the little human child race inside again, balancing a bucked with her wiry arms. She blinked her big brown eyes at me as she sat down beside my body. “We should re-dress, your wounds again!” she chirped, sounding very excited for such a morbid situation.
I groaned as she helped me sit up, Rin? Was that her name? All humans smelled and looked the same to me. Regardless, it was this child that I truly owed my life to. She had begged and pleaded Sesshomaru to take her in, and to my great surprise, the daiyokai had complied. The child seemed ecstatic at me getting to travel with them. I couldn’t blame her; the frog was very annoying and I doubted if Sesshomaru was ever chatty.
She hummed softly as she peeled the bandages off my shoulders and chest. We were inside some makeshift hut? The roof was made entirely of dry straw, the walls and floors from dry mud. The shallow fire hearth made little to no difference, the wind outside was chilly and it pricked my skin like needles. Even with the wounds, it felt like something was wrong, I couldn’t stop feeling cold. Rin had called it a fever. At once she had scurried off on thin legs coming back with random herbs. I had only watched as she sat grinding them patiently, mixing them with water and whatnot. Even now, as she changed my bandages, her fingers were nimble yet experienced.
“where did you learn to do this?” I asked. For a second her chirpiness disappeared.
“I learned it myself.” She said.
I decided not to ask any more questions. The human girl went back to humming, as she dabbed the cloth in the water, this time I peered in too. What stared back at me made me gasp. Even in the distorted bucket of blood-water, it wasn’t my face staring back at all. Oh sky mother. I had known the curse had turned me human. But this… wasn’t my body at all. The girl who started back had a small mousey face, eyes set wide apart giving me a perpetually scared look. Wisps of thin coarse hair fell around my face. For a second I couldn’t breathe. I-was… s-so so plain. And plain before HIM.
This is it. If it wasn’t the horse yokai, it was this abomination of my face that would be the death of me. I wasn’t the demigod of the fire clan anymore, not the beauty born of the raging storm. Just a mountain girl, from some human village. No one would remember me if I did die in this body, woefully forgettable. Even Rin who hadn’t even reached womanhood surpassed me in beauty. My head swam suddenly feeling very faint.
“Does it hurt?’ Rin yelped out, at once helping me lie down. “I’ll let you rest.” She said glancing at her worriedly. Within seconds she grabbed the bucket and the toad and raced outside.
The darkness of the night weighed in on me. 14 more days I counted as I lidded my eyes. At least that’s what the crone had chanted. “Fated to be human until the blood moon rises for the feat of Manna.” My stomach churned as I remembered the final line, “You shall learn the power of human life, after losing your own. That is the only gift I can give you daughter of the hills. Your true self.”
Daughter of the hills. Daughter of an Ayakashi Prince and a mountain Goddess. A mother I had never seen before. But I had sworn her patronage and drawn my sword under her name.
Beside me, my katana gleamed sadly. The first time my father had placed the sword in my hands he had made me pledge. “She is the strongest companion you’ll ever find.” He had said, “The demon of the thousand petal blossom by your side. So, remember to reward her every day. Bathe her in blood every time you draw her, remember to let her feast and you’ll never know defeat.”
I had named the sword mrutunjai, triumph over death. And I had drawn her, day after day. Town after town. With her I truly was invincible. Until that damn crone. The memories of that fated night flooded through my mind. My dragon hide armor was slick with blood, I could still feel the pieces of yokai flesh between my teeth. But sweat-soaked and covered in blood the night wasn’t over yet.
The human woman clung to the last remaining yokai. Its eyes had rolled back into its head, one of its horns already broken, the only signs of life it showed was the faint twitch of its curling fingers.
“please” the woman had pleaded, covering the yokai with her body, its dark blood seeped into her kimono ike black oil. Tear-streaked face, yet such unyielding eyes. “You have killed everyone else.” She rasped out. “Spare my husband. Please I beg you on the name of our Goddess.”
“And it is for her that I am purging your village of these lesser demons. The yokai is already poisoned from miasma, I will put an end to its suffering quickly.” I said.
“T-Take me instead.” The woman cried, hugging the yokai closer. In my had Mrutunjai hummed with hunger. I had promised her the blood of 100 lesser demons. And that is what she would have.
“Don’t test my patience Human.” I sneered “If you wish to die I can just kill you with that yokai, my sword’s thirst will only subside with a yokai’s flesh.”
The human woman refused to move. I bared my fangs, eyes flashing with anger. “This village was under the patronage of the Mountain Goddess. To taint it with lesser demons is to challenge me directly. You fools should have anticipated this.”
The woman flinched, draping herself across the yokai’s body, “You don’t understand.” The woman’s voice quivered, but strange strength sparked within her, “Because of what you are… you cannot understand.”
My anger brimmed, flaring like the untamed wildfire. Mrutunjai sliced through them human and yokai blood splattering across the earth. Equally worthless. The humming of the blade finally subsided. I shut my eyes in prayer. “I have saved another of your village mother.”
“Killing in the name of our goddess, you truly are disgraceful.”
I whirled in anger, to face whatever thing had the fucking audacity, to hold such defiance. I hadn’t expected to see the hag. Against the dim moonlight, the human woman looked frail, her silhouette hunched, a long shroud covering her face.
“I have saved your village,” I replied, tempering the storm inside. “Protected your unimportant human lives from the yokai that would have raided houses and devoured children for leisure. You hag, should be falling at my feet.” I snarled
“Protected?” The crone contested; with absolute lack of fear. She raised her head and the shroud fell back, moonlight fell across her feature. She was completely blind, white irises staring right at me. Strange dark marks covered her face in whorls and spirals that replicated galaxies. “The Goddess of Mountains was a harbinger of life.” Her mouth opened and a gold studded tongue snaked out, “She is cruel but justly so.”
The air around us grew colder, I flashed my fangs.
“The ones you claimed for yourself today were innocent. Our village has harbored yokai and humans together for years. They were our own. Fathers, brothers, children. We lived together for generations and you have slaughtered every one of them. Every yokai and every human that stood against you”
“That’s enough” I growled out, Mrutunjai growling with me as I unsheathed the wicked blade. What is the blood of a 100 more? “Humans and lesser demons are better left in their own worlds. Human lives are replaceable, they hold no significance. If I cut down a few humans to withhold the purity of my mother’s patron village, I will. I must.”
I unsheathed Mrutynjai and the hellfire in my veins growled to be free, “Choose your last words carefully, your severed head will soon join the ones at my feet.”
“Maybe your Ayakashi blood has tainted your wisdom. What fear does an old woman like me have of death, you fool?” the crone laughed.
“You have worn my patience human,” I screamed, as I flung at her, all of a sudden powerful ancient magic flooded around us. A Colum of pure magic erupted around the crone. My eyes widened as the searing light encased me completely, blinding me as an unknown force ripped the sword from my hands. There was clang at it clattered to the ground. With a painful howl, I shielded my eyes from the burning light.
The crone’s voice boomed louder and louder like the clap of thunder.
“A child of divinity is to return home in glory after spilling the blood of countless innocents? A gift I bestow upon you, as terrible and unyielding as your own rage.”
The chanting grew louder and my legs buckled, what the fuck was happening?
“Your flames will leave you; your strength will fail you. Your own face will be taken from you. Tonight at the eve of your glory feast.”
“For 14 days from tonight, I fate you to a life of mortality, till the blood moon rises for the feast of manna. You will learn the power of human life after losing your own. That is the gift I give you daughter of the hills. Your true self.”

a/n: hello! this is my entry for kflixnet's childhood memories event^^ initially, i was supposed to do a 12 dancing princesses au with ten BUT i suddenly had the idea of yuta as enma ai from my favorite anime that i grew up watching which is jigoku shoujo (hell girl). i enjoyed writing this a lot, doing my research (especially with the lines) brought back so many memories for me. I honestly don't know if i pulled this au off but i hope you enjoy this fic as much as i enjoyed it!^^

For millennia, Yuta has been doing the same thing over and over again. Not like he has a choice. It was against his will; he's trapped in this hellish cycle.
It wasn't his fault in the first place. He had every right to avenge himself after all the things they've done to him and his family. They deserved to burn. After burying him alive, they deserved it. He broke out of his grave later that night as a vengeful spirit, just to serve justice for himself from the atrocities they put him through. He said to himself that he'll hate them even until death and it was true.
The immense hatred is what brought him to his situation right now.
Yet there was one thing he regretted, and that was involving the girl he loved in his act of revenge. Yuta was blinded by his hatred that he failed to remember he was supposed to get her out of there before burning the whole place to the ground.
Now, he has a pact with the Master of Hell who was intrigued over Yuta's vengeance. For eternity he will ferry souls to Hell; he became a vessel— he was used and manipulated. He couldn't refuse. It was the soul of his parents and his lover on the line. If he says no, they'll suffer in eternal torment when they did nothing wrong. That's why he's here right now. Bound in invisible shackles, abiding the rules he was given, and obeying the duties he must do.
It was an endless cycle of sending people to Hell and waiting for another unfortunate soul. He was getting tired but he has no escape. The misuse of the service he offers didn't make things better. Yuta has sent innocent victims to their unfortunate fates but he can't do anything to save them. He is unable to save them. There is nothing else he can do. With years of witnessing and delivering the hatred of other people, he managed to bury and forget his own. Yuta ended up becoming emotionless and cold, but the regret was still there and it never left him.
It's his punishment after all.
"A new client had accessed the Hell Correspondence, Master. It's time to face them." Yuki, his companion who is a yokai, calmly informed him. Although there was no need for him to be informed since the strong blow of the wind already told him, he still nodded as a response. He stood up and went to the hill where a large tree was standing tall. It was only a matter of seconds when his new client was now in front of him.
They appear to be shakened, probably because they didn't expect that it was actually real— that the rumors of a website and a person being able to send your tormentors to hell actually exists. Yuta raised his hand, a black straw doll with a red string was being offered.
"You’ve summoned me. My name is Yuta. Take this." He spoke. His voice sent shivers down the spine of his client. The girl grabbed the doll and observed it for a while. Yuta continued to speak, explaining the terms of this deal.
"If you truly wish revenge, just untie the scarlet thread from his neck. Pulling the thread binds you into a covenant with me. I will ferry the soul of your tormentor straight into the depths of Hell." The girl looked back at Yuta to listen carefully.
"However, once vengeance is served, you will have to deliver your end of the bargain. There always has to be a price. When you die, your soul will also belong to Hell. You will never know the joys of Heaven. You will be left to wander through a world made of pain and agony for all of eternity." He finished and it brought a sudden flame of anger to his client. "What?! That doesn't seem fair. I'm sending her to hell for a reason. I don't want to end up being with her again." She complained to which Yuta didn't even budge.
"You're going to be holding a knife with your tormentor's blood on it. No matter how you look at the situation, sending someone to Hell won't be overlooked in Heaven." He looked at her dead in the eyes— his red irises were piercing and it sent a wave of fear to the girl.
"You can still decide. If your own fate is what matters to you, then don't pull the string." And with that, the client faded away from the twilight realm and is sent back to her room.
Once again, she looked at the straw doll on her hand and decided not to pull the string. For now.
In the bright morning, the girl went to school with the straw doll in her bag. On her way, a voice called out for her name and it was a voice she despised to an extent. "Haruka!" You joyfully walked towards your close friend. Joining Haruka on her way to school, you stuck by her side. "Good morning." You greeted. "Mhm, good morning." She chuckled slightly, masking her annoyance.
Haruka doesn't understand what's so special about you? Why is it always you who gets the spotlight? Why is it always you who gets the good end of the stick in life and not her?
She envied you. She envied everything you can do. You were this perfect model student and golden child. Haruka was already fed up with all the comparisons her parents made between the two of you. Slowly the friendship became two-faced. She only acts as your friend when you're around. Once you're nowhere near, that's when she shows her true colors.
She hates you enough that she was able to access the Hell Correspondence website. She hates you enough that she wants to send you to Hell just because you were living a life that didn't have the same agony as hers.
But that didn't mean you grew an ego. All the awards and all the praise didn't change your personality. Because it wasn't you who changed; it was Haruka, your friend whom you trust and love. You treat her like a sister and you take care of her. However, that didn't stop the deadly sin that was growing in your friend's heart.
Another day in school means another day she'll see and hear you being praised as if you're a god, while all her efforts were being laughed at. She's sick of it and she's sick of you.
"Haru, Is everything alright?" You asked visibly concerned as you ate lunch with her. The only reply she gave was an emotionless 'yes'.
"Oh and I have something to give you!" You chimed, reaching for something in your pocket before showing it to Haruka. "Tada! I bought you the necklace you wanted. I know you're struggling a bit right now so... I bought it to cheer you up." You smiled widely as Haruka stared in shock. "(Y/N)... Oh my god, thank you." She said before gently taking the necklace and putting it on. "It's so pretty, it suits you." You complimented as she played with the rose pendant, a big smile was spread across her lips.
"Oh and I have exciting news." You added. "Hm? What is it?" Haruka anticipated for your answer. "I got accepted at our dream university! How about you? I'm so excited about it." You stated, making the smile that was on Haruka's lips turn into a frown. She got the letter earlier in the morning. She didn't get in. One of the reasons why she was more irritated by you today was because she didn't get in. Hearing that you got accepted fueled her envy more. She won't hear the end of this once her parents find out.
Haruka stood up and left you there dumbfounded. You wondered if you said something wrong, then you realized it was a no to your question. Instead of running after her, you decided to give her space, not wanting to make her mood worse.
The whole scene was witnessed by Yuki as she was appointed to observe their client's situation.
"Fucking hell why is it always her." Haruka muttered to herself angrily as she hid at the part of the school no one goes to, lighting a cigarette and putting it in between her lips.
She avoided you all day but you chose to understand that she just wants to be alone for now. You thought of contacting the university to give your friend another chance; you didn't want to see her unhappy.
Yuki shaked her head from afar. "I feel bad for you." She whispered before going back to the twilight realm. The yokai knew the string will be pulled anytime soon.
Yuta was in the lake, floating as he stared at the purple sky. The fabric of his loose clothes were swaying with the water; as if he was lifeless once again.
"Master." Yuta tilted his head slightly to the side to look at Yuki with his usual blank expression.
"I'm afraid we're sending another innocent soul to Hell."
The yokai's words managed to make Yuta breathe in sharply. He decided to see for himself. He left the realm and entered your reality.
It took him a while to find you but when he did, it was like he saw a ghost. The face of his lover was right there in his sight, alive and well. Yuta couldn't believe what his own eyes were seeing. He was feeling a lot of emotions, yet none of them were being conveyed and displayed because of how long he was suppressing such sentiments.
Yuta was puzzled. He doesn't understand. Your soul was in the Master of Hell's grasp; how was it possible for you to be reincarnated?
How are you here? How are you alive again?
He knew he needed answers that's why he came back to the twilight realm. He approached the three-eyed spider, the Master of Hell's other form that always watches his every move. Yuta was certain that the spider knew his current intention. The Master of Hell knows everything, of course he'll know what Yuta saw. "What did you do?" He was straightforward, demanding an answer. His tone was cold and stoic, but the spider left, avoiding his question. Yuta wanted to be angry but he has to control it— impulse was always his sin. It was the reason why he's here. It was the reason why you died in the first place.
He stared at the empty space where the spider was once present. Yuta's breathing was somewhat abnormal for someone whose heartbeat stopped many years ago. He accepted the fact that he'll never know the purpose if this was to test and torment him more or if this was something else.
The cold wind blew strongly and he heard the words he wished he wouldn't hear.
"Your grievance shall be avenged."
He had no choice. He never had a choice. Yuta wore his nagajuban that had flowers moving around the black fabric, getting ready for the next victim he'll ferry.
"Yuki." He called out. "Yes, master?" Yuki responded softly. "I'll go alone."
Haruka pulled the red string of the straw doll out of complete frustration. She was already out of her mind. She wanted you gone immediately, for once again, she was compared and belittled by her own family. Hearing the words "why couldn't you just be like (Y/N)" was the final straw for Haruka. She just wants them to shut up about you being better once and for all.
With you gone, everything will be better for her.
She doesn't care if she'll also go to Hell. As long as you suffer first and you suffer the longest then she's happy. All of this just because of envy.
The same cold wind blew once again. The cold air sent shivers down your spine as you left the university's building after hours of trying to convince them to change their mind over Haruka's application. You failed. But at least you tried for your friend, right?
It was already becoming dark. As you continued walking, it kept on getting darker despite only being six o'clock in the evening. The sky suddenly turned into this abnormal color of crimson red and the surroundings suddenly became foggy. All the streetlights turned off except for one, and it startled you. Under that only source of light was a figure of a man wearing a kimono. The atmosphere was eerie. You could feel your whole body trembling from both the cold and from fear. It scared you, but you heard this before.
Could it be that you're being sent to Hell? At first, you couldn't see him clearly due to all the fog. Then it all gradually faded away, revealing a man who matches the description of the circulating rumors in school that you've heard for almost a hundred times. The long black mullet hair, red eyes, pale skin, the black kimono with designs that seemed to be alive— you're certain it's the exact same. Despite the fear creeping in your heart, you walked closer and you saw his features better. He looked familiar. You're sure you've never seen him before but he looks familiar.
"Have we met before?" You gathered all the courage you have to ask. "No. Not in this life of yours." He replied with a monotone voice. A voice that was just as cold as the surrounding breeze. "You're hell boy, right? If that's what they call you..." You spoke. "Yes. That's me." He answered. So you are being sent to Hell.
His hand reached out, waiting for yours; presumably the touch of death waiting. "May I ask who?" You looked at him with tears slowly forming in your eyes, not expecting that this will be how you'll leave the world of the living. You heard that only intense hatred can send someone to Hell through a website. You wanted to know who hates you so much for them to make you disappear like this. "Haruka." Inhaling sharply, you let your tears fall as you smiled sadly. You felt betrayed and hurt. Who wouldn't when it's someone you consider a close friend who is sending you away in a horrible place? You sniffled and you tried to cease your tears. This is the type of fate you can't escape so you placed your hand on top of his cold hand, expecting and accepting death.
However, that's not what happened. Instead of death, a bunch of memories came flashing back in your mind. It were memories of your past life. Your childhood, the village, the fire— you saw everything. You were reliving your past life and it all started to become vivid, albeit overwhelming.
You blinked and you were suddenly on a different setting. It was in the middle of the forest in a sunny morning. "Yuta!" A feminine voice called out. You looked at its source and you saw yourself. As if you were just staring in front of a mirror seeing your own reflection, you saw yourself in the same age but with traditional clothing. A man was approaching your past self; it was him. It was the man who's going to deliver you to hell. He looked different. Drastically different. His hair was shorter, he wasn't pale, and most importantly, his scary red eyes were this beautiful shade of chocolate brown. The contrast between the man you saw earlier and the one you're seeing now was very significant.
Yuta was full of life.
You watched as the two people embraced eachother lovingly. He smiled and it was a comforting grin. You felt this warmth in your heart, it resonated all over your body. They were happy with eachother. They were in love. As soon as everything sinked in, you knew exactly why he was familiar and Yuta felt that you were already aware and reminded. He was your lover. In your past life he was yours and you were his. Perhaps the love you both shared were strong enough to immediately link your hearts once again. Strong enough to make it seem like the both of you never got separated by death nor time. The memories coming back ignited that past soul to awaken in your current body.
"Yuta..?" You softly spoke his name. The whole scene in front of you vanished and you were back to where you initially were. His expressionless face finally responded with what he was feeling at the moment; bittersweet happiness. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, (Y/N). I was supposed to keep you safe." You cupped his cheeks gently. An action he didn't expect. Looking into his eyes, you saw how soft his gaze was. It was just like how he looked at you before.
"I'm happy to see you again." After many decades since his death, the unbelievable occured. Yuta teared up, the tears rolled down his cheeks smoothly. Yuta melted. The coldness that swallowed him whole melted at your words. For a moment, you both stayed still, remaining in this position for a few more minutes. Everything was silent, but it was all Yuta ever needed after everything he has done.
"Master." A voice of a girl spoke, breaking the silence and the small reunion. It was a signal, you had to go. "Yuki, please just a few more seco—" "I have to go." You cut him off.
"No! I don't want to send you there, you've done nothing wrong in both of your lives—" Yuta stressed, not wanting to let you go nor wanting to let you suffer eternally.
"I'll be fine." You reassured with a smile. A smile he last saw hours before he got buried alive and it broke his heart, knowing that this will be the actual final time he'd see it.
Yuta gulped in helplessness. He wants to break the rules but at the same time, he can't. Once again, he couldn't save you and it pains him. He placed a gentle kiss on top of your head and with that, everything turned black. The sound of a bell chiming echoed and the flowers from his kimono flooded your vision. It felt magical for a death where suffering is eternal.
When you opened your eyes, you were on a boat with Yuta rowing it down a river— ferrying you to Hell. The environment was foggy. It was dull. The water was dark and small candles on lily pads floated on its surface.
A bright red flower was on your hand. It was a red spider lily, symbolising his final goodbye. "I never wanted that to be the flower I'll give you for the last time." Yuta, who is usually quiet during this time of his job, admitted with misery evident in his voice.
"It's beautiful, Yuta." You smiled at him.
"I'm happy to see you again, (Y/N)." He chose those words rather than the usual phrase he says. Instead of saying that this grudge will be washed away in Hell, he chose to say what his lifeless heart wanted to say as he rowed the boat and passed through the arch of Hell.
He may not realize it, but soon his own hell will come to an end. Your soul was set free by the Master of Hell as a sign for Yuta's upcoming freedom. It was just unfortunate that this is how it turned out for you. You were set free and given a second chance, yet you still ended up in Hell when the exact reason why Yuta became a vessel was to avoid this from happening. It was a bitter fate. Destiny was this playful.
Yet you still saw eachother and you were both happy. He was glad to see you again. Even if it was for the last time.

if you know the anime, you'd know that enma ai puts the tormentors/victims into a series of hallucinations connected to their fault, before saying a speech and delivering the spine-chilling line: "would you like to try dying once?".
in this fic, i wanted to emphasize the sympathy enma (in this case, yuta) feels for the innocent being sent to hell even though she (he) became cold and emotionless. this sympathy is more evident with the reader being his reincarnated lover that he accidentally killed along with his own tormentors in his act of retribution.

Due to the new 30 image limit, I had to change the list a bit.

Asatsugutori
Kochira, Haha Naru Hoshi Yori
Murder Detective: Jack The Ripper
Buddy Mission: BOND
AIR for Switch
Knights in the Nightmare Remaster

Yoru, Tomosu
Memories Off Historia Vol. 1 and Memories Off Historia Vol. 2
Death Match Love Comedy!(set in the same world as Raging Loop)
Yokai Watch 4/4++(Level 5 seems to be hopefully getting a second wind, so maybe this will come over, too)
Dragon Quest X Offline
Blue Reflection Sun(I'm mostly interested in this just for the story details from before Blue Reflection: Second Light. I think someone on the Blue Reflection wiki might be translating/summarizing the story, though.)

Gizoku Tantei Nosuri
Kanda Alice mo Suiri Suru.
New additions.
Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku: Isshoni Exercise

Revue Starlight visual novel
Hoping for more information on Fate/Extra Record; there hasn't been any in a while(that I'm aware of).
I put some of Nippon Ichi's VNs from a few years ago on here in the off chance that, after bringing Process of Elimination over, they'd be willing to bring more over, too.
It's nice to see a bunch that were on last year's list actually got brought over or are in the process of coming over.
...seriously, KT, please bring Ciel Nosurge DX/Ar Nosurge DX over.

RPers Sought via Discord
I am seeking canon x canon ships for fandoms via discord. This will be a 1x1 situation. I am happy to double! For my ships, please reach out for information as many are crack/unusual. I do tend to stick to MxF romances but if we're doubling up and one pair is MxF, I'm open to adding a same-sex pair. When I double, I use a word counter to make sure posts are equal. I don't require this of my partners as long as they look similar in effort. Should favoritism begin to appear, I'll express concerns but if it happens often, I'm going to end the RP.
My posts tend to be several paragraphs (I guess the term might be novella or advanced literate) in third person, past tense. When on Discord, it's not unusual to take a few messages to complete my post but I do indicate with a (c or cont) if it's continued and end with an (end) to indicate that it's all complete. Due to post sizes being lengthy, I tend to give about 2-3 posts a week. Often more but I would say that's a pace I'm happy with getting from a partner. We all have lives. I'm not going to hound anyone to post unless it's been like, a month. People get busy or bored. It happens. That said, I love a lively OOC where we get to know one another and converse freely even if posts come at a slower pace. I'd rather hear about disinterest and work to fix it, than have resentment or complacency build behind the scenes.
NSFW stuff is bound to happen within moderation and with proper development. My RPs are very gradual, slow burn. I'm in this for the long haul and I expect my partner to be as well. Communication ensures longevity and interest.
My discord: MK Meringue }#0169
When messaging me, please tell me where you found my username and what you're interested in discussing, otherwise odds are I won't reply. Nothing more strange than just getting a 'hi' from a stranger online. Again, my ships are a little off-beat so if we chat and find we're not looking for the same thing, no harm. It never hurts to ask.
Looking for RPers for the following fandoms:
Alice in Borderland

I can write as Beth, Jolene, Harry, Townes. I'm looking for a Benny or Harry. A crossover with Godless could be fun.
Fire Emblem Three Houses

Okay so I seen that you write for Kamisama kiss and I just can’t help myself; because that’s one of my favourite shows and I love your writing!! Do you think you could do any kind of one shot x reader with Mizuki? 🥺 maybe something that’s a little angst with some fluff ? Or honestly anything I just love that snake boy 😭 but if not that’s okay too, keep up what you do, it’s so good 🥺🥺
➳ pairing: mizuki x f!reader ➳ genre: fluff, angst ➳ warnings: none ➳ word count: 1928 ➳ rating: pg ➳ summary: In which mizuki comes to your rescue but is worried you will leave because of it. ➳ a/n: this ended up being more fluff than angst but i hope it’s okay. also, maybe a part 2 later on?
You had met Mizuki by chance, or rather, fate.
It was a nice afternoon so you decided to go on a walk. During that walk, you found yourself visiting the Mikage Shrine. It was such a pretty shrine, clearly well maintained. You often found yourself there, wandering around the exterior of the shrine. Most days you at least went up for a visit, even if you were only there for a few minutes. Other times, you were there for hours.
You would sit there, on the ground, and close your eyes to breathe in the smell of nature and fresh air. You'd even come across the young schoolgirl who helped keep the shrine once or twice. Nanami was her name.
One day, you had strayed from the shrine a little too far perhaps, as you ventured into the surrounding woods. You wandered a little too far and soon it was getting dark, so dark that you had found yourself somewhere strange. It looked like the same woods, it really did, but it was different. There was a chill up your spine, an uneasy feeling settling in your chest.
You felt as though you were being watched and, upon turning to head back the way you came, you came face to face with a ghastly creature. You froze solid for a second, feet rooted to the ground as fear overtook you. Then, you screamed.
Turning on your heels, you ran further into the darkness. The creature was fast, about to catch up with you. You didn't know what to do as you glanced back to see the large creature growing closer with each passing second.
You ran for a good couple of minutes before cashing into something from not looking where you were going. You were still scared, terrified even, but the warmth of the object you had run into calmed you somewhat.
The pounding footsteps behind you had ceased as if the creature had stopped in its tracks and decided that it wasn't going to eat you.
Whatever you had run into was holding you close, an arm wrapped around you as if trying to protect you from what stood behind you.
"She's mine, stupid snake." The creature hissed, presumably to the being that had you in their grasp.
"Leave, before you regret it." The being spoke, his voice sounding soft yet stern.
The creature just laughed, "You think I'm scared of you? A tiny little snake?"
"No, but I know you're scared of Tomoe. Maybe I should go get him?"
You could almost feel the air change around you and knew that the creature had stiffened, "N-no need. She's yours."
With that, you heard the creature walk away, leaving you with whoever had come to save you. If they had come to save you, that is.
The arm around you loosened and let you go but, before you could fully come back to your senses, his hand grabbed your own and began pulling you along back from the way you came.
You tried to pull against it, to stop his rush to get wherever he was taking you, but his grip was too strong.
"Stop. Stop! Where are we going? Where are you taking me? Who are you?" You called out, trying to get his attention but he simply continued to run.
There was nothing you could do, and so, you gave in and allowed him to pull you along.
All you could see was his back as the two of you ran. He was in very traditional clothing and had fluffy white hair that almost resembled a cloud. He was just a little taller than you and his hands were soft. He didn't seem like a monster.
When the two of you finally came to a stop, both catching your breaths, he turned to you and asked, "Are you okay?"
You nodded, "I- I think so, thank you."
He smiled. Seeing his face only reassured you further that he was certainly not a monster nor did he seem to mean you any harm. He was pretty for a boy with unusual, snake-like, green eyes and white eyelashes. His figure was thin, skin white like snow.
"What was that place? What was that thing?" You asked, once again seeking answers for the strange ordeal you just went through.
"It was the world over yonder. It's not safe for humans there so you shouldn't stray too far into the darkness alone. The thing that chased you was a Yokai." He explained as he began walking, beckoning for you to follow.
You scratched your head, "The world over yonder? Yokai?"
The boy simply hummed as he led you back to the shrine.
When you finally made it out of the woods and were back at the shrine, the boy smiled at you once again, "Well, you should probably head home now. Don't stray until you get home and you'll be fine."
Just like that, he turned to leave, for some reason heading towards the shrine as if that were his home.
"Wait!" You called out again, taking hold of his wrist to stop him from leaving.
He turned back around with another smile as if trying to reassure you.
"Who are you? What are you?"
You released your grip on his wrist after realising that there was no reason to hold it any longer.
"I'm Mizuki, Lady Nanami's familiar."
You raised an eyebrow, trying to understand what he was saying but simply ended up focusing on what you did understand, "You know Nanami?"
He nodded, "She is the God of this shrine and my mistress."
"G-God?" You exclaimed.
There was the sound of a sigh from behind you, "Mizuki, you're causing trouble again."
You turned on your heels, coming face to face with a man. A man with big fluffy ears and a tail. Before you had time to react, you collapsed. The last thing you felt was two arms catching you before everything went dark.
When you came to, you were lying on the floor with a soft pillow under your head. You sat up, propping yourself up on your arms as you looked around.
"N-Nanami?"
The girl you knew from your visits at the shrine was sitting beside you, looking rather worried, as you finally came to.
"You're okay!"
You looked to the other side of you to find the boy from before, Mizuki, looking relieved to see that you were okay.
"What happened?" You asked only to begin recalling the events yourself seconds later.
"You fainted, although I can't blame you." Nanami stated, helping you as you sat up properly.
Then, she climbed to her feet and looked to Mizuki, "You better look after her. I'll be back soon."
Just like that, her and the cat-like man from before left.
"Where is she going?"
"Lady Nanami is going to expel the Miasma from around the shrine so that no more humans end up in the world over yonder." Mizuki explained.
You nodded, trying to take everything in, "So Nanami really is the God of this shrine. and you're her familiar?"
"Yes. So is Tomoe, we both serve her."
Nodding again as you continued to absorb the crazy information you were slowly beginning to understand, Mizuki turned his head to the side of him and spoke, seemingly to thin air.
"She's fine, Nanami said so."
"Who are you speaking to?" You asked, wondering what else you didn't understand.
Mizuki's face lit up and he jumped up before running off. When he came back, he passed you a small lock of his hair, tied with a shiny, green ribbon.
Reluctantly, you took it, "What is-"
When you looked to the side of him, you saw what, or rather, who he had been talking to. They were small, wearing unusual masks over their bald heads.
"You can see them now, right? They're the spirits of this shrine, the Will-o'-the-Wisps. This is Onikiri and Kotetsu."
"Nice to meet you." The two spirits spoke in sync and you smiled.
"It's nice to meet you too, I'm y/n."
They both nodded and spoke together once again, "We know, you're the girl that visits our shrine."
You giggled slightly, "Yeah, I guess I am."
"y/n," Mizuki spoke your name so you turned back to him, "It's late so Lady Nanami said you can stay here for the night."
You shook your head, "Oh, it's no worry. I can go home, I don't live too far."
"No-" He raised his voice ever so slightly, his hand sitting atop of yours, "- I mean, please stay. Just for tonight."
Although you were unsure why you could see the desperation in his face. You could even hear it in his voice. He wanted you to stay, he needed you to stay.
"Okay, but only for tonight."
Mizuki grinned and jumped up, "Great, um- you must be hungry. I'll go get you some food."
You smiled again as he rushed off, seemingly knowing exactly what you were thinking or maybe he simply heard your stomach growl.
"You'll have to excuse Master Mizuki, he's been rather fond of you since you started visiting the shrine and I'm sure that he now fears you will stop coming after learning the truth about all of this." Kotetsu explained.
It made more sense now, the loneliness you could see within him. Although he lived here with these two spirits, Nanami and the cat man, he still seemed to feel alone.
"He's lonely." You spoke aloud.
Kotetsu hummed.
Not long after that, Mizuki returned with food and Nanami came back with the cat man, who you had assumed was the Tomoe that Mizuki spoke of. It also turned out that he wasn't a cat, but a fox. As for Mizuki, a white snake.
"If you need anything just come find me." Nanami smiled before leaving you to get some rest.
You tried to sleep for a little while but something was still bugging you, and so, you got up and began to walk around the shrine. Upon reaching the entrance, you saw Mizuki sitting on the step by himself in the dark.
With a sigh, you walked over and sat beside him, "Can't sleep?"
He looked at you with wide-eyes, clearly surprised that you had come to join him. After a second, however, his eyes went back to normal and he nodded.
"If I sleep then morning will come and you will leave."
His words made you sad and so, you found yourself reaching out to take his hand in your own, "Morning will come whether you sleep or not. As for whether I leave or not, I'll always come back."
His fingers curled around your own, "Promise?"
"I promise."
The two of you had only just met. Well, only just met in person. There was something about him that seemed familiar as if he had been beside you all this time. Although you were unaware of it, he really had been by your side. In a way at least. He liked to watch you when you visited the shrine. He would sit up in the trees and watch as you walked about, admiring the shrine he called home.
He never once had ill-intentions. He simply liked to watch you as you took in the nature around you. You looked happy, you looked free.
While you were busy looking at the prettiness of the shrine, he was looking at the prettiness that was you. You had intrigued him and, when you found yourself in danger, he was there to save you. He had grown to care for you in the time you had come to visit the shrine and he wanted to protect you from the dangers that lurked in the darkness.
You had only just met him but you wanted to get to know him and stay by his side. Most of all, you wanted to cure the loneliness within him because once, you were lonely too.

Dear author, I really like the way you wrote and I am hooked on your stories. May I request a scenario from a yandere rook who chases her darling, a kitsune woman who hates men, especially human men, because she was betrayed and almost killed by her human lover, who turns out to be a Yokai hunter who has been eyeing her for a long time. Pretty pleaseee 🥺🥺
(Yandere! Rook Hunt x Kitsune! Fem! Reader)
She had not known peace since that fateful day long ago when her heart had first known betrayal at the hands of man. The kitsune maiden regretted that day with every fiber of her being and if she could turn back the hands of time and change her fate she would. For years she’d been chased by a mortal hunter who’d claimed he’d have her heart for his own.
Foolishly she’d allowed herself to believe he’d meant those words as a declaration of love, but they were only a warning for the battle for survival that would plague her days going forward. Eventually that hunter had grown too old and weak to continue fox-hunting and the kitsune had dared to hope her troubles were at an end.
Alas the man had filled his protege’s head with fantasies of taking her hide as prize, and the chase began once more. Everytime her current pursuer grew too old to continue their game of hunter and hunted, his apprentice would take up the chase in his stead. So it went for decades upon decades, century upon century, with the kitsune’s will to live slowly fading. At first her current hunter was exactly like his predecessors, chasing her from forest to glen with merciless devotion. Yet this new hunter, a man calling himself Rook Hunt, had come the closest to catching her, closer than even the first hunter who’d had the advantage of having knowledge of the kitsune’s heart to guide him.
Rook had heard the legends of the mysterious fox-woman as a lad and he’d been amored with her beauty since the first time he’d seen a flash of her gleaming tails as she escaped his master’s trap. Under the watchful eye of the old hunter, Rook studied the kitsune confident that he’d be the one to finally catch her. Yet unlike his ambitious predecessors the young hunter did not desire the kitsune’s tails as a trophy on his wall. No what Rook desired was to make a wife of the wily fox-woman and make her round with a child of their two races. The day finally came when his master passed on from this world, and it was now time for Rook to take what was his.
He would have chased her for eternity if need be, and never would he have grown tired of their game. Yet fortune favored him and drove the kitsune into making a fatal mistake that landed her in his trap. Words could not describe the joy he felt as he carried her home, her body bound tight in a net as he chattered about their future together.
The kitsune would have no choice but to give in to her captor’s wishes with enough time. She’d have a devoted husband by her side, perhaps a child or two on her lap after a year of marriage to Rook. The hatred she’d once held for his kind diminished as she allowed herself to finally forget the man who’d first shown her the cruelty of humanity…
THE END
